Join us at KingsWay for Resurrection Weekend 2018!
The Apostle Paul could not be clearer in 1 Corinthians 15:1-5:
"Now I would remind you, brothers of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you - unless you believe in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in the accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve."
Jesus died for our sins and rose from the grave that we might be saved. That’s the heart of the gospel. And we must receive it, stand in it, and hold fast to it if we are to experience Jesus’ saving power in our life, not just once, but every day of our life. Did you notice Paul doesn’t speak of the gospel as “that which saved us long ago.” He describes the gospel as that “by which you are being saved.” There is a point at which the saving power of the gospel breaks into the life of every genuine Christian. But once it breaks in, it doesn’t go away. It remains the means by which God keeps and transforms us until the day we see His face.
The gospel isn’t merely that "Christ died for our sins," though that’s true. Nor is the gospel that Jesus was "raised on the third day,” though that’s also true. Jesus’ death and resurrection are equally necessary for our salvation. We must to “hold fast” to the importance of both, taking care that we continue to stand in what we once received. This is what makes Easter Weekend so significant to the Christian as we hold fast to this gospel. We invite you to join our church family in doing so!
Good Friday Service - Friday, March 30th at 7:00 pm.
Join us for this hour-long annual tradition at KingsWay as we take a specific time to focus on and thank Jesus for His suffering and death on the cross in our place.
Easter Egg Hunt - Saturday, March 31st at 11:00 am.
As one of our largest community outreach events, come for this special time of fellowship and celebration for families in our church and the Midlothian area. The egg hunt is reserved for children ages 12 and under, but all are invited to come for this fantastic opportunity to love our neighbors.
Easter Sunday Morning Service - Sunday, April 1 at 10:00 am.
Sunday mornings are always a celebratory time of the week and Resurrection Morning is an especially vibrant time as we praise God for conquering the grave and offering us eternal life with Him. (Sunday school will not be held this morning - regular classes to resume on April 8th.)
It’s our privilege to offer the Easter Egg Hunt to the community free of charge. Because of that, we need your help to put this big event on! There are two ways that you can help with this event. First, we need donations of candy (non-melting items). These can be dropped off in the foyer. Second, we need families of all ages to assist with running the egg hunt on March 31st. If you are available to serve for several hours, email Craig Smith at email@example.com.
