Whether you're single or married, parenting young children is hard work. I say that as the father of two little boys. Caring for them is an unbelievable privilege, but they have an uncanny knack for drawing impatience and anger out of my heart that I didn't even know was in there. There are many days when weariness and discouragement feel like unavoidable occupational hazards. Can you relate?
Parents need regular doses of encouragement and instruction from God's Word to not give up. That's why I'm glad Mickey Connolly is teaching a parenting workshop next weekend designed especially for parents of children under age 10. Mickey is the senior pastor at Crossway Community Church in Charlotte, NC and serves as the regional leader for SGM churches in the mid-atlantic. He's also a parent of three adult children, which gives him the benefit of hindsight in equipping those of us with much younger kids. Mickey imparts a great deal of grace when he teaches and comes as a friend, not an expert.
Session 1: Friday, June 21 from 7-9pm
Session 2: Saturday, June 22 from 8:30-11:30am
Both sessions will be held in the Seminar Room at Kingsway. Unfortunately, we're unable to offer on-site childcare, but if you need help arranging a sitter, please contact Brittany Fernandez for suggestions (379-2551).
