Sunday Review: April 30, 2017
Below is a brief review of our meeting on Sunday, followed by a few discussion questions for Community Group or personal study this week.
Matthew opened our time together with a Call to Worship from Psalm 147:1.
Rich Siefring led us in a Prayer of Praise and we sang Rejoice, Cling to Christ, and Nothing But the Blood.
Matthew introduce Morgan Swank who shared a testimony about her opportunities to personally evangelize at work.
Bev Lewanowicz read 1 John 2:18-27, the text for the day's message, "Abide in Christ", which Matthew preached as the next in our current series, Assured of Salvation. To listen to the message again, visit our Audio Resources page.
After the message Chris led us in Communion and we sang Come Behold the Wondrous Mystery.
Matthew closed our time together with a benediction from 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17.
1. Matthew taught that what comes to mind when you think about Jesus is the most important thing about you. Why is this? How do we know Who Jesus is?
2. Why is it imperative to "abide in Jesus"? What is the correlation between abiding in Jesus and remaining in the body of Christ?
3. For you individually, what are the most difficult aspects about engaging with and doing life alongside the body of Christ as a whole? Is church participation or membership a concept that you struggle with in any way?
4. How do we hold fast to the truth of the gospel? What does the role of God's word and the Holy Spirit play in this endeavor?
