Sunday Review: February 10, 2019
On Sunday, February 10, 2019, Matthew preached the message "God Never Leaves the Building" from Genesis 38 as part of our current series, re:creation. Below are a few discussion questions for Community Group or personal study this week. Click here to access a PDF of the projection from the message. To listen to the message again, visit our Audio Resources page.
1. This can be a difficult passage to study. Recount the events in your own words. What was so problematic with Onan's actions? What kinds of destruction did his disobedience and selfishness lead to?
2. How do you see Judah being hypocritical in this passage? Can you identify with his hypocrisy? In what ways have you experienced living in that gap between what you know is right and how you actually live? What scriptural tools are we given to combat such hypocrisy?
3. Matthew taught that conviction is a gift. How can this be? Have you experienced the blessing that comes from responding to conviction?
4. Matthew also taught that association with the people of God does not equal membership with the people of God. What does this mean? Which category would you place yourself into, one who follows Jesus or one who only walks near those who follow Jesus?
