Sunday Review - February 21, 2016
Below is a brief review of our meeting on Sunday, followed by a few discussion questions for Community Group or personal study this week.
We began our time together by singing Holy Holy Holy and Living He Loved Me.
Chris led us in a pastoral prayer where he prayed that biblical happiness would cover us as a family and for wisdom for the Sovereign Grace Ministries as a whole.
We sang Soon and Very Soon.
Matthew welcomed visitors and invited any non-members to attend the next Starting Point class on March 4-5.
Mike Whitener read Ephesians 1:1-17 - the text for the next message in our current series, United: The Letter to the Ephesians. The message, "The Rhythm of Thankful Prayer", was preached by Matthew and can be heard again by subscribing to our English or Spanish podcast channel.
After the message, Doug Bare shared a testimony about what God is teaching him through the course of his ALS disease.
We sang Firm Foundation and Josh led us in Communion.
Josh gave a benediction and we ended our time together by singing Blessed Assurance.
1. What is the relationship between seeing, celebrating, and praying for God's work?
2. In what ways are faithful prayer and gratitude directly related to one another?
3. What is the single best thing that you can pray for in regard to another person? How can we avoid self-centered prayers?
4. Matthew said that only Christians who see and celebrate God's work will have the ability to pray for it over a long period of time. What does this mean? How should this fact impact our prayer life?
