Sunday Review - July 13

Sunday Review - July 13

Here's a quick review of our meeting last Sunday, followed by questions for Community Groups this week.

Matthew called us to worship by reading 1 Cor 15:14-22

Haider and the band led us in singing Happy Day, Christ is Risen, and When the Stars Burn Down

Matthew explained the importance of proclaiming and adorning the gospel in light of Jesus' return

We listened to Andy Baker and Tammy Bishop share about the work God is doing in El Alto, Bolivia. Andy and his wife Andrea are field directors with Word Made Flesh and run a business called Sutisana to provide dignified employment for women recovering from prostitution. Andy will also be guiding the missions team from Kingsway during part of their time in Bolivia and we're grateful he came back Sunday evening to talk about Sutisana in more detail.

Josh gave a pastoral prayer, focusing on the spiritual needs of various groups of people within the church as well as our partners in the gospel at Evergreen Church of Powhatan.

Gene preached a sermon, One Minute After You Die, from 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 as part of our summer series, From Death to Life.

We received a financial offering to support gospel ministry in our church as Kevin sing, It Is Not Death to Die.

We all sang I Will Rise and Gene gave a benediction

Community Group Discussion Questions
  1. Share an example of a time you struggled with grief in the face of death
  2. Did the gospel bring hope in the midst of that situation? Why or why not?
  3. What do you believe will happen to you when you die? How do you know?
