Sunday Review: June 11, 2017

Below is a brief review of our meeting on Sunday, followed by a few discussion questions for Community Group or personal study this week.

Chris opened our time together with announcements and a Call to Worship.

We sang Holy is the Lord and Kevin read Joel 2:23-29.

We sang When You Move and Spirit of God and Chris prayed for the team that is preparing to depart for Bolivia.

Charlene Morgan ready 1 John 4:1-6 as the text for the day's message, "Test the Spirit", preached by Josh as part of our current series, Assured of SalvationTo listen to the message again, visit our Audio Resources page.

After the message we sang Made Me Glad and Josh closed our time together with a benediction.

Discussion Questions:

1. Josh taught that there is nothing more important than evaluating the authenticity of our faith. What does this mean? What does it look like on a practical basis?

2. How does the Holy Spirit function as or assurance of eternal life? How do we mark such authenticity in our lives?

3. Josh taught that the Holy Spirit leads us to confess Jesus Christ, enables us to listen to truth, and empowers us to overcome. Describe what each of these markers look like. Are there things in your life that make it difficult to feel the Holy Spirit's power in these ways? Are there other external or internal voices that fight for your attention?
