Sunday Review - March 27, 2016

Below is a brief review of our meeting on Sunday, followed by a few discussion questions for Community Group or personal study this week.

Matthew welcomed all to our Resurrection Sunday Service and Jeremy and Miranda read John 20:1-18.

The chorale ensemble sang "The Tomb Stands Open Wide".

We sang "Christ is Risen He is Risen Indeed", "Because He Lives (Amen)", and "Blessed Assurance".

We took a break from our current series, United: The Letter to the Ephesians, and Matthew preached the message, "The Matter of First Importance" from 1 Corinthians 15:1-11.

After the message, Elmer gave a testimony about how the Gospel has radically changed his life and he and Kailey Hagen were baptized.

After the baptisms we sang "Rescue" and Kevin Khoffie read 1 Corinthians 15:50-58.

We sang "When the Stars Burn Down" and Matthew closed our time with a benediction.

Discussion Questions:

1. How do we know that the Gospel is historically reliable? How would you explain its credibility to a friend who was skeptical?

2. Matthew taught that the gift that we receive through Jesus' life, death, and resurrection is our only hope of salvation in every circumstance and every trial. What does this mean?

3. What are some things that you put misplaced hope in? Ultimately, how does the hope that Jesus alone brings affect our mindset when we are suffering?

4. We are who we are because of the power of God working in us. Have you experienced such power? If so, in what ways has it changed your life? If not, what do you need to do to begin a relationship with Jesus today?
