Sunday Review - November 22, 2015
Below is a brief review of our meeting on Sunday, followed by a few discussion questions for Community Group discussion or personal study this week.
Matthew opened our time together will a call to worship from Psalm 33.
We sang Come Praise and Glorify and recited from the Apostles' Creed and the Heidelberg Catechism.
We sang Generous King and Rebekah Giannini led us in a prayer of confession.
We sang Not in Me, Christ is Risen, and Chris guided us in communion.
We sang And Can It Be and Josh preached an exhortation from Psalm 40:1-10. The message was titled "Proclaim and Tell" and can be heard again on our Audio Resources page.
The church participated in nearly forty minutes of corporate thanksgiving.
After this time, we sang All the Way My Savior Leads Me and Mighty Fortress.
Chris closed our time together with a benediction.
After the meeting, we shared a Thanksgiving potluck.
1. How is David's pattern of desperation to thanksgiving in Psalm 40 match our own? What are the specific steps that Josh walked us through from that starting point of desperation to thanksgiving?
2. What is the difference between waiting patiently for the Lord and a rampant desire to simply be rescued from a difficult situation?
3. Josh said that our Savior both meets us in our pit of despair as well as pulls out out. What is the significance of the Lord first meeting us where we are before He delivers us?
4. Why must we "proclaim and tell" of God's works along the road to genuine thanksgiving?
