Sunday Review - October 12
Here is a brief review of the meeting on Sunday along with a few discussions for your Community Group this week.
Matthew led the Call to Worship from Psalm 46.
We sang Oceans, Lead Me to the Cross, and Indescribable.
Gene interviewed and prayed for Jorge de Castillo, a pastor who ministers in Bolivia. He then prayed for our church and preached a Sermon from Mark 1:14-20 called The King Has Come as part of our series, Son of God: The Gospel According to Mark.
We sang Rescue, shared Communion, and gave our tithes and offerings.
We sang Come Thou Fount and Josh invited visitors to visit the Connect Desk.
Josh dismissed us with a closing benediction.
- Gene said that other religions and philosophies are based upon advice about how to live a good life on Earth and works to get to a positive afterlife. How is Christianity different?
- Jesus has come to be our King, however, so often we try to usurp control and be our own king. Are there any areas in your life that you struggle to submit to the Lord's authority? What are the most effective ways to battle this attitude? How can your Community Group come alongside you in this area?
- Scripture teaches us that we cannot serve two masters. Rather, the message of the Gospel is one that transforms and frees us as citizens of God's Kingdom. How has your life been transformed since you have been saved?
