Sunday Review - September 7
Here’s a quick review of our meeting yesterday, plus a few questions for Community Group discussion this week.
Matthew led us in a call to worship from Psalm 84.
We sang Indescribable, Man of Sorrows, O Great God, and My Heart is Yours.
Matthew shared about how our church is participating in Operation Christmas Child and dismissed the 8-11 year-olds to King’sKids. This was King’sKids Promotion Sunday and many of the students graduated to the next class.
Matthew prayed specifically for the upcoming Men’s Retreat.
Gene preached the final sermon in the Jesus and Your Wallet series entitled What Does It Say About Me? The teaching was founded on Luke 12:13-34.
After the message, there was a time of silent reflection followed by singing Be Thou My Vision.
Josh Kruger closed the meeting with a benediction.
Community Group Discussion Questions:
1. What does our society say about earthly cravings? How does this compare to Jesus’ teaching in Luke 12:13-34?
2. We read Psalm 39: 4-6 that we should learn to number our days. This is contrasted with a culture that encourages us to number our possessions. In what ways can you better live in a realization that our days are fleeting?
3. Gene led us in a series of “Spiritual Financial Checkup Questions”. Reflect upon your answers with your Community Group.
Check your assets. Where is your treasure?
Check your financial plan. What are your goals?
Check your budget. Where is your money going?
