The Thankful Wall
I know God's will for your life.
I'm not kidding. Whether young, old, rich, poor, black, white, God has commanded all of us to do something. It's surprisingly difficult, yet remarkably simple. Any guesses?
1 Thess 5:18, "Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." The practice of gratitude is a distinctly Christian habit because it's enabled by the gospel of Jesus Christ. If you have acknowledged your need for a Savior and trusted Jesus as your Savior, then God has made some stunning promises to you.
- I have forgiven all your sin (1 John 1:9)
- I have adopted you as my precious child (1 John 3:1)
- I am working all things for your good (Rom 8:28)
- I am with you always (Matt 28:20)
The list goes on. We have no lack of reasons to give thanks. We must simply learn to remember them.
And that's precisely the rationale behind The Thankful Wall. As you enter the Kingsway auditorium this week, you'll see a wall where you can practice the delightful discipline of gratitude. It's really simple. Pick up a notecard. Write something you're thankful for. Pin it the wall. Then read how God has blessed others in your church family.
The Thankful Wall will be available through Thanksgiving weekend, providing a visible reminder of just how good God has been to all of us for Jesus' sake. "For all the promises of God find their Yes in him" (2 Cor 1:20).
Remember the gospel. Give thanks in any and every situation. It's God's will for us in Christ Jesus.
