On Sunday evening, September 23, we gathered together for our third quarterly prayer night. The theme for the evening was prayer for students/young people in our church and community. Prayer points and scripture readings from the meeting are below for your continued use.

2018 Quarterly Prayer Meeting
Young People

“One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.” – Psalm 145:4-5

Pray for Their Minds

  • Desire to know the God who created them
  • Ability to see his glory in the created world
  • Hunger to read and study God’s Word
  • Sense of identity shaped by the gospel
  • Humility to submit every thought to the authority of Scripture
  • Diligence to meditate on what is pure, lovely, and worthy of praise
  • Sensitive conscience informed by the Word

“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.” – Matthew 13:44-46

Pray for Their Hearts

  • Abiding assurance of God’s steadfast love
  • See Christ as supremely delightful and not just true or right
  • Deliverance from idolatry of sexual pleasure
  • Fear of God that drowns the fear of man
  • Confidence that the power of the Spirit is greater than the power of sin
  • Unshakeable joy in the midst of depression
  • Faith to trust God with feelings and suffering that makes little to no sense

“For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.” – Ephesians 5:8-9

Pray for Their Will

  • Diligence in making wise decisions
  • Humility to share spiritual struggles and questions with older saints
  • Courage to share Christ with friends and family members
  • Vision and joy in serving the church
  • Repentance for older children who are not following Christ
  • A spouse who fears the Lord for those who desire marriage
  • Compassion and wisdom for discipling peers
