Sunday Review: 7/23/23

On Sunday, July 23, 2023, Josh Kruger Jr. preached the message “God’s Word Demands Exclusive Devotion” from Deuteronomy 12:29-13:18. To listen to this message again, click here. Please see below for discussion questions for this past Sunday’s message.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

  1. Share an example of a past or present spiritual voice in your life that appeared wise, but ultimately sought to lead you away from devotion to God’s Word. How did you respond?

  2. Do you assume that if a course of action "works" or produces results that look good, it must be pleasing to God? How can we know?

  3. Does the command God gave Israel to kill all who knowingly sought to lure his people into idolatry seem good or excessive? Why do you think you feel that way?

  4. How do Galatians 6:1 and Matthew 18:15-17 help us obey Deuteronomy 13 as the New Covenant people of God? Are you willing to lovingly confront a professing Christian who is disobeying God's Word? What tempts you to hold back?

  5. What are the dangers of merely trying to ignore close companions who are not following the Lord? Where are you tempted to make an intimate companion of someone who is not an intimate companion of Christ?
